macOS 12 Monterey public beta released today

The public beta version of macOS 12 Monterey was released today, allowing non-developers to test the new macOS Monterey system before the official release. Interested users can download the macOS 12 Monterey update from the software update section of the System Preferences application after installing the appropriate configuration file from the Apple Test System website.

macOS Monterey has introduced quite a few major updates. After the release, the universal control will allow a mouse, trackpad and keyboard to be used on multiple Mac or iPad devices, and now you can AirPlay directly to the Mac from the iPhone, iPad, or even another Mac.

Safari has an updated tab bar and supports tab groups to keep a large number of tabs in order, while FaceTime now supports spatial audio, portrait mode (M1 Mac only) and voice isolation to eliminate background noise. The SharePlay FaceTime feature (to be introduced in the Monterey update) will allow Apple TV users to watch TV, listen to music, and share their screens with each other.
